Who We Are

Udaykriti is a purpose-driven organisation rooted in the simple yet powerful belief that every young person, irrespective of gender, caste, creed, sex or clan, deserves a fair and fighting chance at a bright and thriving future, regardless of where they come from.

Our work focuses on the most vulnerable youth in Delhi’s urban slums and resettlement colonies – communities where opportunities are scarce, but potential is abundant.

In these underserved neighbourhoods, we meet youth where they are—on dusty football fields, narrow lanes, or crowded community spaces. Many of them are grappling with the brutal realities of poverty, early school dropouts, and, increasingly, substance abuse. According to a 2023 study over one-third of street children in Delhi have used drugs, with most beginning as early as ages 8 to 13. The danger isn’t just the drugs, it is the hopelessness they feed.

But there is a way forward. Inspired by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime’s findings presented at the 64th Commission on Narcotic Drugs (April 2021), Udaykriti leverages sports as a proven strategy for substance use prevention and youth empowerment. UNODC highlights that sport-based interventions build personal and social skills that are critical for helping young people resist risky behaviours. These include self-esteem, emotional regulation, discipline, resilience, and teamwork—all of which we embed into our model.

Our three-pillar model—Sports for Behavioural Change, Digital Skilling, and Earn-While-You-Learn Livelihoods—is designed to meet youth where they are and walk with them toward a future of dignity and inclusion.
